BIOGRAPHY

"So much to see and paint, I'll never have enough time in this life to paint everything that inspires me"

The Artist: Tim Ball

Born in Barnard Castle, County Durham, Tim moved to Norfolk when he was 10years old. It was here that he was inspired by the wide moving skies and the wildness of the Norfolk Broads with their majestic colourful wherries making their way gracefully through the water.

Even though he had been inspired to paint at the age of seven it wasn’t till later when he had settled and was living and working in Norfolk that he realised his talent for painting what he saw around him, as an amateur artist his work was in demand and the realization that one day he would need to turn professional to keep up with the demand for his work.

Well eight years ago that realization became reality and after four successful solo exhibitions in Norfolk and commissioned to produce work for a prestigious companies calendar that he finally turned professional.

In August of 2004 Jenny his wife was fortunate to be invited to take up a career move in Yorkshire And for Tim this meant the challenge to establish himself away from Norfolk where he was so successful. Tim had painted in Yorkshire before whilst on holiday, but realised that this was going to be a challenge to establish himself in a completely new area. The first year saw him paint fifty new paintings of various Yorkshire scenes, these were then to be exhibited in his first solo exhibition of 2005 in the town of Pocklington near York in the Pocklington Arts Centre. So successful was this that he was invited to exhibit in two galleries in the East Riding of Yorkshire. With exciting reviews in the local papers and inspiring editorial in the prestigious Hull Journal displaying his paintings. After another successful exhibition in 2007 and in August 2009 at the Triton Gallery, Sledmere, Tim is preparing some new and exciting paintings for 2010 with further exhibitions planned

He still exhibits and sells his work in Norfolk at the Tudor Galleries, Norwich, as well as supplying The Wolds Village Gallery at Bainton and Pocklington Picture Framers in the East Riding of Yorkshire. A founder member of ERA (East Riding Artists), which was set up in 2005 and with now over 132 members to date and covering all walks of art from Paintings sculpture, pottery, jewellery etc. It aims to bring together all artists, professionals and associates to communicate and participate in events and exhibitions and to help to bring art to the fore front in the East Riding of Yorkshire.( www.east-riding-artists.org )

With commissions on going and future exhibitions planned Tim is enjoying the success he is achieving in Yorkshire, and with the Wolds, the Moors the Dales and not to mention the beautiful coastline around him he will never tire of putting brush to canvas.
